your work is amazing.
Still weird — but very, very awesome — to hear people say such nice stuff like this about my work.
Sure wish I could shoot like you. I need to become more lighting oriented. I've gotten lazy.
Just gotta experiment, man. I still have no idea how to use true studio strobes (Profoto/Broncolor/etc.), to be honest. But I also really like the aesthetic that hot lights give and I’m content to explore that for now (as well as natural light) until I’m ready to dive into big time flash systems.
For the shots of Becca in the red skirt, I didn’t even have hot lights at the time and instead found some regular Home Improvement store clamp lights and a normal living room lamp stored away in the dance studio that I shoot in and decided to see what they could do.
Obviously you’re gonna need some more powerful stuff for more elaborate productions, but the flatter, warmer, less tack sharp quality of shots taken w/ constant lights appeals to me.
Also, thank you for the kind words. I still don’t think I’m all that great yet, but I’m much further along that I was at the start. A lot of that can be attributed to finally exploring different ideas, more than any gains in technical proficiency (it doesn’t take long to learn how to use your camera).
And lastly, shouts out to all the ladies who allow me to photograph them. They probably contribute quite a bit to the apparent quality of my work, lol.
ive been following you back for a while now, and i am so glad. just dropping by to tell you that i love your work
Thank you. I don’t get those “love your work” messages all that much on Tumblr (but I guess I’m not quite Tumblr-famous yet, lol) so it’s always nice hear that people dig my stuff.
But there will be more. French shit. Probably nude shit. Cinematic shit. I’ve taken a bit of a “fuck it” approach and decided that if I see something that I like, I’ll try it. I think it’s going alright so far.
